Stora Enso

Stora Enso is the main partner for the Lux Helsinki light festival. Lux Helsinki is part of the official Finland 100 centenary programme in 2017, and by participating in the organisation of the event Stora Enso wants to celebrate 100 years of Finnish independence. The installation “Cube” will present Stora Enso’s iconic head office in a new light.

Stora Enso is a leading provider of renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wood and paper that aims to replace non-renewable materials by innovating and developing new products and services based on wood and other renewable materials. Stora Enso employs approximately 26,000 people in over 35 countries worldwide.

Marimekko

Marimekko is creating bold patterns for Finland on its 100th anniversary of independence. Throughout the year Marimekko will encourage participation in and create opportunities for bold actions and innovation, even in some unexpected ways. Marimekko will start the centenary year by participating in the Lux Helsinki light festival, which will bring to life the iconic Marimekko pattern Brothers (Veljekset) by Maija Louekari through light and animation. Brothers is also the official pattern of Finland 100.

Marimekko is a Finnish design house celebrated worldwide for its original prints and colours. Founded in 1951 by a visionary woman Armi Ratia, Marimekko is said to be one of the world’s first real lifestyle brands combining fashion, bags and accessories as well as home decoration into one unique point of view.

IKEA Finland

The IKEA Concept starts with the idea of providing a range of home furnishing products that are affordable to the many people, not just the few. It is achieved by combining function, quality, design and value – always with sustainability in mind. The IKEA Concept exists in every part of the company, from design, sourcing, packing and distributing through to our business model. IKEA Finland wants its operations to have a positive influence on people and the environment. IKEA Finland’s aim is to help more people live a better life at home.

Lux Helsinki and IKEA Finland are teaming up to offer an observation deck in the Market Square where visitors can view a light installation by students from Aalto University.

Plan International Suomi

Plan International Finland and Lux Helsinki are supporting the rights of girls and women around the world and encourage festival visitors to make a donation to support the work being carried out to support the education of girls and employment of young women in developing countries.

Plan International is one of the largest and oldest child welfare organisations in the world. Plan International has no religious or political affiliations and works to improve the lives and protection of children, especially girls, in 70 developing countries.

Plan International Finland will present the poetic and moving installation “Absence” by Mexican artist Mónica Ruiz Loyla.

Bright Finland’s core competencies lie in the design of light, sound and image technology, as well as in technical solutions, equipment hire, importing and sales. Sun Effects

Sun Effects is a design and production collective from Helsinki specialising in light effects and visualisations. Sun Effects has been in charge of the programme, production and implementation of Lux Helsinki since 2012. The collective’s other projects include the Flow Festival, the startup event Slush and the Linnanmäki carnival of light. Its work has been exhibited in more than thirty countries and on five continents.
