Saving the world in shades of pink! Do-gooders is an installation that combines traditional visual art with interactive animation. In a painting by visual artist Katja Tukiainen, a determined army of girls marches in to save the world.

The panoramic painting allows viewers the opportunity to touch the light and awaken the painting into life. Animated by means of video mapping and sensor technology, the installation strengthens faith in magical goodness and allows paradise to grow back. The interactivity and animation of the installation have been created by OiOi, a company that makes physical spaces smart and interactive.

“The experience of the installation is created by its colourful painted world and interactivity. The work can be enjoyed by participating and interacting with it. This is art that can be touched, not just experienced,” says Sami Kämppi from OiOi.

“My main colour has been pink since the ‘90s. I still haven’t grown tired of the colour’s meanings, which range from poetic rose to powerful neon pink,” says Katja Tukiainen.

The sound design is by Aki Päivärinne. The interactive installation can be experienced by 20 to 30 viewers at a time.

In collaboration with Granlund and UNICEF.
